Lexus Es was one of the first vehicles by Lexus and after six generations, it’s still appealing to buyers. It’s particularly great for people who are looking for a ride with a long list of luxury features as well as bulletproof capability.

What’s new for 2017 edition?

A number of new features mark the 2017 Lexus ES including perforated faux-leather Nulux upholstery. The Display Audio system also comes with an upgrade in the form of expanded connectivity which includes a mobile app for Android and iOS devices as well as a rearview camera.

Driving impressions

There are very few cars that can match the silent highway ride that 2017 Lexus ES offers. The V6 engine, however, makes an audible growl if you floor the accelerator. ES is also very fast with the ability to accelerate to 60mph in less than 8secs. The car even has a Sport option that allows better acceleration by making the transmission shift more aggressive. The transition from electric to gasoline is barely noticeable unless the hybrid is in Eco mode.

The Interior

This hybrid boasts of upscale materials as well as the fit and finish noticeable in other Lexus cars. They all come with a mounted screen which is controlled using a Remote Touch system located on the center console. The drive mode selector allows drivers to switch among Eco, Normal and Sport modes. The interior is roomy and can accommodate up to four passengers.

The Exterior

Compared to Lexus RC and IS, the 2017 Lexus ES has given a subtle edge to the grille. Nevertheless, it is likeable. The exterior of this hybrid is characterized by smooth lines, narrow windows and flared fenders; all of which give it an aggressive edge. Of course, you can upgrade the 17 inch aluminum alloy wheels.

Special features and equipment

  • Creature comforts which include heated seats and steering wheel, Mark Levinson audiophile sound system, panoramic sunroof, 15 speakers etc.
  • Remote Touch Controller
  • Home-link garage door opener
  • Lexus Display System
  • Lexus Automatic Collision Notification as well as 10 airbags Under the hood

The 2017 Lexus ES has 268 horsepower, 3.5liter V6 engine that’s connected to a 6 speed automatic transmission. The hybrid’s powertrain is a 2.6 liter 4 cylinder engine that combines with electric to give 200 horsepower. That much power combined with its fuel saving capabilities is just what everyone needs. The trick space is however sacrificed in exchange for the 40-mpg fuel economy. The 2017 Lexus ES is only available in front-wheel drive, and it’s estimated cost is $38,500 which is inclusive of the destination charge.
